translation of names on offical documentsby: Scott Crystal "Interested to see what has been written about the handling of translation of offficial documentation such as birth, marriage, death certficates" Over the years we have been confronted with a wide range of variables to handle names of people, titles and places where the source language and target language have very different potential translations and/or transliteration. T ensure accuracy we often like to retian the source text in a transaltion along side the translation and/or transliteration so we cover our tails in case of discrepancies. How has this matter been dealt with over the years without it being a headliner topic? With identity theft as a big issue, I'd think we need to start asking these questions and make some standardization.Looking forward to your feedback. Scott M.
